What's happening good people. I went to the People's Art Festival today. A lot of cool art and most importantly a lot of cool, artistic people.

One such person is Pryncess of Pullup Studios. She had some of her art on display at the festival. I also noticed something else she had on display,

The young man pictured here is a Navy recruiter; as you may have gathered from my incredibly creative title.

People in uniform represent the larger institutions that, for better or worse, define civilization.  I've wanted to include some of these people for sometime. I thought this brother was a good first candidate.

This is also my first serious entree into black and white conversion. I wanted to take the opportunity to apply some of my post-processing regiment toward a completely different output. Tell me what you think.

And by "tell me what you think", I mean tell me you like it. And that I'm awesome. And that I smell good.

I've always maintained that I am my own worst cockblocker.

From time to time, a woman will find me attractive. I will think the same of her. Then I will start talking...

This is Crystal Y. Coleman. She is a clinical psychologist and writer living here in our wonderful city. I met her on my way back from editing photos at my aforementioned favorite bar, Centaur.

When I saw her, she was passing through the construction scaffolding you seen in the background. I thought it would make for a nice background, so I asked if she would like to be included in TPOD.

Though she was a lil inhibited at first she was nice enough to ultimately let me photograph her.

By the way, in addition to helping people not be crazy (wonder if she can help me...), Crystal is also an aspiring writer. Check her out: www.sayitwritepublishing.com/

Full Disclosure: This photo was taken in Royal Oak, Michigan - a suburb about 4 miles north of Detroit proper.

Granted, the purpose of this project is to intimate the people who live in or otherwise have a relationship with the city of Detroit.

However, I don't intend to adhere to that criterion religiously.
